Sharon Nelson

Policy Education and Development Consultant

Sharon Nelson is the Policy Education and Development Consultant for Third Act Development. With 30 years as a political operative and strategist, Sharon has taken her knowledge and experience base to help empower underserved and underrepresented constituency groups to seek real-time opportunities for inclusion and intersectionality. 

Sharon Nelson is the Founder and CEO of CREW, Civically Re-Engaged Women, a not-for-profit 501(c)3 professional development and political training organization with the Flagship "Parity Politics" and “SHEroes” campaign programs, where she provides a seat at the table for all leaders to join. 

A Political and Media Entrepreneur, Sharon is an Operations, External Relations, Corporate, and Political Strategist who is certified as a Democratic National Committee Finance Director. Sharon has worked with several campaigns and administrations including The Historic Nelson Mandela “World” Tour, the 106th Mayor of NYC Honorable David Dinkins, and the 1992 Inauguration of President William Jefferson Clinton. She also provided Strategy to NYGOP Mayoral Candidate, Nicole Malliotakis in her 2017 “run” for office. In 2020 Sharon was an instrumental adviser in the launch of the CREW-TV Network, a network dedicated to civil rights, social justice, women’s advocacy, and civic engagement.

Sharon spent her early career as a Nursing Home and Ambulatory Care Executive for the Bronx-Lebanon Healthcare System in the South Bronx. She has worked in the Arts as Chief Marketing and Development officer for the international touring company, Dance Theatre of Harlem. She has served as Executive Director of the Summer Jobs Program at the New York City Partnership and launched a similar jobs training and education program for the City of Syracuse, NY. Sharon served as the Publicist for the Decennial Census in NYC in 1990 and has also worked on 7th Avenue in tandem with Essence Magazine featured designer(s). And in Healthcare Public Relations for a division of Grey Advertising. 

Sharon is a member of the Advisory Board of the New York State Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission and the President Emeritus of the National Women’s Political Caucus – New York, where she re-established the 46-year-old organization in 2015 after a 10-year hiatus. She is also a member of the Board of Trustees at the Museum of Political Corruption.   

Sharon earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. She is also a recipient of the prestigious Public Relations Society of America, Silver Anvil Award for her contributions to the launching of National Cancer Survivors Day. 

She resides in NYC with her family.
